by Billy Name
Digital Archival Print
This portrait of Andy Warhol with Mary Woronov, Nico, and Susan Bottomly was taken in New York City (1966.)
In 1964 Name created the iconic installation, almost every surface of the loft with aluminum foil and silver spray paint creating a futuristic effect. Name went on to live at the Factory for the period of 1964 - 1968, giving the photographer unparalleled access. His photographs from this era are an important documentation of this pivotal time and place in art history. Capturing both portraits and behind the scenes images, Name's collection provides a unique insight into this period of Andy Warhol's career as well as many icons of the era - Edie Sedgwick, Nico, Ivy Nicholson, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground.
