Project: Monarch - Untitled 4

Project: Monarch - Untitled 4

by Guillermo de Zamacona

C-print

Born in Mexico City and currently based in New York City, fashion photographer Guillermo de Zamacona embarked on his series Project: Monarch to capture the beautiful and endangered butterfly on film. The project was aimed to raise awareness to an environmentally devastated mountain ecosystem in de Zamacona's home country of Mexico, where 300 million monarchs live and breed.

Ethereal models shot in Balenciaga alongside the beautiful monarchs evoke the tranquil harmony of the mountain environment, creating a unique and magical effect.
