Mecanico

by Gabriela Molano

Digital C Print

Gabriela Molano began photographing her native city Bogota in Colombia. The strong social disparities she witnessed growing up pushed her to pick up her camera to try and make sense of what was happening around her. Currently based out of New York, she explorers her medium to understand more about the person she is. Capturing small parts of the external world to create her own.

"The vibrance and textures that make up La Habana tell the story of the island. Despite the various stages of decay the inhabitants of these colonial structures create homes for themselves and mend the fissures that hold their stories. In this photograph a mechanic inspects his bike-taxi to repair whatever is impeding him to move forward." - GM
